2020 Younified Awards Philippines

YOUnified is an annual community service initiative that celebrates YSEALI’s anniversary every December and the power ofYSEALI members to positively transform their communities across Southeast Asia. The YOUnified campaign in the Philippines is a special event to recognizeyouth's contribution to improve communities this year - even in the middle of pandemic.

YOUnified combines the words YOUTH and UNIFIED to demonstrate YSEALI members’ ingenuity in developing solutions to local,national, and regional challenges.

As part of this year’s (2020) YOUnified celebration in the Philippines, YSEALI Alumni Mobilization Program through Leadership and Influence to Filipino Youth (YSEALI AMPLIFY) Batch 4.0 and the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines will recognize youth organizations with notable achievements in helping communities across the country this year, amid the ongoing pandemic.

What is YSEALI?

Launched in 2013, the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is the U.S. government’s signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in Southeast Asia. Through a variety of programs and engagements, including U.S. educational and cultural exchanges, regional exchanges, and seed funding, YSEALI seeks to build the leadership capabilities of youth in the region, strengthen ties between the United States and Southeast Asia, and nurture an ASEAN community. Today, the network has more than 150,000 members across Southeast Asia, including more than 27,000 members from the Philippines. Cloudgrid Project of Light Of Hope PH won the 2020 Younified Awards Philippines - Environment Category, Cloudgrid Project is an innovative solution in combatting the climate crisis and in uplifting the lives of the less privileged off-the-grid communities through the use of affordable, clean and renewable energy technologies and IoT technologies. Project Implementation

Using the Grant Prize won from the competition, Light Of Hope PH team built and deploy Cloudgrid units to Sitio Cadulang community beneficiaries in Lapu Lapu City. Providing affordable, safe clean energy access to the families that enables them to save on cost for lighting and charging their mobile phones with out harming the environment. The families have been living without electricity for more than 10 years.
